Ferrari pilot Felipe Massa has won the Turkey GP. The Brazilian driver has achieved second consecutive first rank at Istanbul Park.
Felipe Massa from Ferrari has won the Turkey Grand Prix which is the 12th race of the season in Formula 1. Having his first pole and first rank in his career last year at Istanbul Park, the Brazilian pilot has finished the race of 58 laps by 2.275 seconds in front of his teammate Kimi Raikkonen who has been the first winner of Turkey GP.
Starting the race at pole-position and not leaving the leadership throughout the race except the pit stops, Massa has raised to third rank by passing Raikkonen in drivers classification by reaching his third victory after Bahrain and Spain.
Vodafone McLaren’s world champion pilot Fernando Alonso has achieved the third rank in Turkey GP which is held for the third time. Nick Heidfeld and McLaren’s classification leader pilot Lewis Hamilton followed Alonso who has succeeded in taking place in the podium although he has been passed by two BMWs at the start.
The point difference between Hamilton and his follower Alonso has been decreased to five before the last five races of the season as Hamilton reached the finish line in the fifth rank by having his front right tire to blow up in last 16 laps.
The other pilots leaving Istanbul with points have been Heikki Kovalainen from Renault with sixth rank, Nico Rosberg from Williams with seventh rank and BMW Sauber pilot who had to make an early pit stop with eighth rank.
After Turkey GP, Hamilton with 84 points and Alonso with 79 points maintain their place in first two. Ferrari pilots Massa has 69 and Raikkonen has 68 points.
Having the first team title having the first and second rank at Istanbul Park, Ferrari has decreased the point difference with McLaren in brands classification to 11. McLaren has 148 points and Ferrari has 137 points.
The only name who could not reach the finish line has been Mark Webber from Red Bull in the race which Honda pilots Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, who have changed engine, have started on the last position and finished the race at 13th and 17th ranks. Adrian Sutil from Spyker has been included to the classification as he had to leave the race just five laps before the finish.
The 13th race of the season of Formula 1 will be made at Monza circuit of Italy.
